i just received a 18 DBi yagi directional wifi antenna, yet im still picking up the same wifi signals around.?

i purchased a 18 DBi yagi directional wifi antenna(http://www.dealextreme.com/details.dx/sku.34759) along with a wireless N wifi adapter. I am picking up the same, slightly stronger wifi signals then the default one.
i have a school infront of my house that does have wifi and i am not pick up.

You may not see a signal as not all people set up their routers to broadcast SSID. So you might not see a signal because of that. If you knew the SSID, you could try to connect using it specifically. (contact the school and find out.)
